The Abortion Pill Harms Women: Insurance Data Reveals Repeated Abortion Attempts Due to High Failure Rate

A report from the Ethics & Public Policy Center claims that real‑world insurance data for 865,727 mifepristone (abortion pill) prescriptions from 2017–2023 shows a higher failure rate and more adverse outcomes than reported in clinical trials, finding that at least **5.26 % of women needed a repeat abortion attempt within 45 days and about 13.51 % experienced either a serious adverse event or repeat attempt, and urges the FDA to reinstate stronger safety protocols, require full side‑effect reporting, and reconsider the drug’s approval based on this data.
